MicroGrade Home > MicroGrade and WebCT
College instructors using WebCT and MicroGrade have requested that we enhance MicroGrade’s data import and export functionality to simplify their grade management tasks. We have responded to those requests by adding a new feature to MicroGrade that allows student information and scores to be exported in a format that can be uploaded to WebCT. Additionally, student information and scores can be easily downloaded from WebCT and imported into MicroGrade. With this new feature, instructors can easily upload their student roster from MicroGrade to WebCT. Once the students take a test or quiz on WebCT, the instructor can quickly download their test scores to MicroGrade. MicroGrade’s built-in email feature and ability to post complete grade reports to the Web make it the ideal complement to WebCT. To learn more about MicroGrade, click here. Choosing “WebCT…” brings up the dialog displayed to the right.
This feature provides a simple way to export the basic data WebCT requires to define a student database. The first and last name, a user ID, and a password are exported. The “General…” export option has been enhanced to allow any information MicroGrade maintains to be exported to WebCT. These changes are described in the next section. The WebCT Export dialog allows you to choose how WebCT User ID and WebCT Initial Password will be handled and to specify which students will be exported. |

| Once the options you want are selected, click the OK button and the dialog displayed to the right will appear. This allows you to choose a location to save the exported file. When you choose to upload the file to WebCT you will look in this location and select the file that you saved. |

The initial dialog for General export was not modified for WebCT. It allows arbitrary
student and score information to be selected for export. Once the desired information
is selected click the Export button and the dialog displayed to the right will appear.
This dialog provides two options for specifying the format of the export file. Choosing “Supported Formats” allows one of several formats directly supported by MicroGrade to be selected from a popup menu. Choosing “WebCT Format” from the menu creates a file compatible with WebCT. To use this option you must include Student ID as one of the fields selected for export.
