About the role:

Chariot is looking for a seasoned Database Engineer who has experience running and maintaining RDBMS and NoSQL databases and services around those databases in public cloud infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have a mix of database and software engineering experience that helps them diagnose and resolve operational issues that can span from the database to stored procedures and/or client services. Experience building persistence services with modern APIs, in the agile development process, is essential.

Skills & Qualification:

● 5+ years of experience designing/administering RDBMS and NoSql databases, Redis.
● Significant experience with query optimization, performance analysis, schema design/review, data modeling, troubleshooting and recovery.
● Ability to automate every aspect of installations and repetitive tasks, metrics collection, monitoring.
● Comfortable writing Python code. Familiar with Git, Jenkins, and automation frameworks.
● Solid understanding of inner-workings of MySQL and NoSQL database servers impacting capacity, latency, throughput, scale, clustering.
● Familiar with data streaming, Change Data Capture, MySQL binlog processing, and integrating databases in data pipelines.

Job Responsibilities

● Take ownership of production databases: Operations, optimization, automation, data integrity, backup, HA, recovery.
● Manage databases and database servers in Docker containers, and hosted in AWS managed services.
● Work with various development and QA teams on design, sizing, capacity planning, picking the right SQL/NoSQL technology, troubleshooting.
● Work with development and production engineers to understand full scope of applications and participate in the big picture design.
● Scale databases, stay proactive about improving infrastructure and schema, turning metrics into meaningful data for decision making.
● Participate in on-call coverage for databases and database related outages.
